Sremska Mitrovica, 2005The city of Sremska Mitrovica is located on the left bank of Sava river, tributary of Danube, 70 km from Belgrade to the east. In the time of Roman Empire, Sirmium was the capital of Illyria province. In 304 A.D. martyr Saint Anastasia is executed there. Today, Sremska Mitrovica has 85.000 inhabitants including suburbs and offers interesting cultural activities.
